Winnipeg to Minneapolis, MNOur adventure begins as we head south this morning, with stops at Emerson Duty Free followed by lunch and coffee break en route. Soon the Minneapolis skyline appears, with our first overnight.
Minneapolis to St. Louis, MOWe continue on today and travel through the “Corn State” of Iowa and into Missouri for our next overnight.
St. Louis to Memphis, TNOur travels today take us southward though the “Show Me” state of Missouri and into Tennessee. We overnight in Memphis, famous for the influential strains of blues, soul and rock 'n' roll. Before checking into our hotel we make a stop on historic Beale Street, one of the most musically significant streets in the world.
Memphis to New Orleans, LAThrough the “Magnolia State” of Mississippi today and into New Orleans our home for the next 4 nights. Tonight get ready for the time of your life in the “Big Easy” as we experience the sounds and tastes of the south at a popular local restaurant.
New OrleansOur day starts with a leisurely guided walk through the historic streets of the FRENCH QUARTER, one of the most unique and historic cultural epicenters of the country. Later we embark on the STEAMBOAT NATCHEZ for a scenic cruise from the heart of the French Quarter and down the lower Mississippi. Enjoy an included lunch as you listen to a live jazz performance and narration of historical facts and highlights of the port.
New OrleansEnjoy a panoramic CITY TOUR with a local guide. Our tour takes us through the Garden District where you will pass by elegant mansions, down stately St. Charles Avenue along the streetcar line where two of the most prestigious colleges in New Orleans are located. Relax during a drive along the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain. Visit an ABOVE GROUND CEMETERY known as “The City of the Dead” which holds some of the most elaborate crypts. Next is a guided tour of MARDI GRAS WORLD. Here you will learn the history of the Mardi Gras Festival, see props from past floats & witness artists at work on next year’s creations.
New OrleansExperience the southern splendor with a visit to HOUMAS HOUSE PLANTATION, the “Crown Jewel of the Great River Road”. Guided tour of the mansion, which is filled with period antiques and Louisiana artwork, followed by an included lunch. After lunch time to stroll the magnificent gardens, ponds and majestic oak alley.
New Orleans to Lafayette, LAWe are off to Lafayette, with a stop en route at the Greenwood Gator Farm. Journey through the Louisiana swamp on a SWAMP BOAT TOUR narrated by your captain, followed by a tour of this full-time working ALLIGATOR FARM. After, relax and take in the views of the Bayou as you enjoy an included Creole lunch with Cajun music!
LafayetteToday we visit the TABASCO PLANT, the home of the world-famous Tabasco Sauce, on AVERY ISLAND. Avery Island is a mysteriously beautiful place where pepper fields grow, the factory hums, and the McIlhennys and their employees continue to live and work much as they have for generations. Next we are off to RIP VAN WINKLE GARDENS & THE JOSEPH JEFFERSON MANSION. The mansion was built in 1870 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tonight enjoy an included dinner at a local restaurant, offering live Cajun Music & Dancing.
Lafayette to Little Rock, AKLeaving Cajun & Creole country behind we travel north into Arkansas for the night.
Little Rock to Kansas City, KSOur travels today take us through Arkansas and into Kansas.
Kansas City to Larchwood, IAOur journey is almost over with our last night together in Larchwood at the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort.
Larchwood to Winnipeg, MBThis morning we stop at the Terry Redlin Art Center before making our way home from our unforgettable Cajun & Creole adventure.
